Angel City Brewery has shown a creative spark and a willingness to innovate, providing some inspiring ideas and flexible campaign adjustments—especially when working with Darnell Hayes. However, several collaborations have revealed opportunities for improvement, particularly in communication, timeliness, and clarity of deliverables. Prospective collaborators should plan for clearly defining expectations and timelines to mitigate delays and ensure a smoother execution process.

500-Bottle Flagship Ingredient Beer Drop
Working with Angel City Brewery on the 500-Bottle Flagship Ingredient Beer Drop was a challenging experience. While they initially appeared enthusiastic about co-creating something innovative, they missed several key deadlines, leading to delays in ingredient supply and creative approvals. Their communication was sporadic and their decision-making process uncoordinated, which left me scrambling to meet production timelines in my nano-brewery. The overall lack of thoroughness and professionalism was disappointing given the scope of work. With budget approvals and essential brand guidelines lagging behind schedule, it was difficult to achieve the desired collaborative experience. I expected a more proactive client, and while they ultimately delivered a product, the process was far from smooth or inspiring, meriting only a 2-star rating.

Traffic Jam QR Truck Blitz
Working on the 'Traffic Jam QR Truck Blitz' for Angel City Brewery was a mixed bag. While the concept was creative, the planning on their end left a lot to be desired. Darnell Hayes, as the brand manager, consistently responded late to requests and was unclear about several crucial elements such as the artwork specifications and geo-targeting details. This lack of thoroughness resulted in last-minute changes that disrupted the campaign’s schedule and overall flow. The overall professionalism and timeliness required for a smooth activation were missing, compromising the operational efficiency of the truck deployment. While I appreciate their willingness to innovate, the absence of clear communication and proper adherence to contractual requirements significantly affected the quality of the campaign, earning a 2-star review from my end.

Secret Password Taco Pop-Up
Working with Darnell Hayes and Angel City Brewery on the Secret Password Taco Pop-Up was a challenging experience. While I tried to meet the outlined scope for the week-long taco promotion, the client fell short in several essential areas. Their timeliness was a concern; crucial elements like marketing materials and the necessary featured ingredient supply were either delayed or incomplete. This not only disrupted the planned execution but also led to gaps in customer engagement on key days. Furthermore, the lack of clear direction and creativity from the brand management side compounded the issues. Daily password generation and QR code infrastructure were inadequately organized, forcing last-minute adjustments. Though I appreciated their occasional bursts of enthusiasm, the overall lack of thoroughness and professionalism meant that the campaign struggled to hit its marks. Based on these issues, I feel the experience deserves only a 2-star rating.

Backseat Taste-Test Takeover
Working with Darnell Hayes on the Angel City Brewery campaign was a generally positive experience. Their timeliness and professionalism ensured that all guidelines and creative elements were provided upfront, making it easier to execute the ride-along taste-test gig without major disruptions. Darnell’s enthusiasm and willingness to adapt the campaign based on real-time feedback really added a creative twist to the project. However, there were a few moments when communication could have been even more proactive, leading to minor delays in receiving updated branding requirements. Overall, while the campaign was executed smoothly with thorough tracking of sample distributions and surveys, the slight hiccups in coordination prevent me from giving a full five-star review.
